In their fifth successful year of service, the Reddit College of Music Business (RCMB) has certainly cemented itself as a cornerstone for community involvement. Helping students navigate their academic journeys, alongside their musical passions, has united Spartans through the power of song. As a dynamic college organization, RCMB promotes collaboration, innovation, and artistic expression through the Michigan State University community.

 With the variety and versatility of projects and initiatives accomplished, networks built, and collaborations attempted, RCMB certainly has the capability of being a fully functioning organization—and, in most of our opinions, has the functioning of a fully functioning organization. Enhancing the community and creating the connections the university thrives on, RCMB inspires everyone in the university community. Let’s see how.

The Rise of RCMB in the Spartan Community

The rise of RCMB, or the Reddit College of Music Business, has been nothing short of remarkable in the Spartan community.​ Events organized by RCMB became popular among peers seeking practical knowledge and networking opportunities. Workshops featuring industry professionals attracted attention, fostering connections that were previously hard to establish.  

Successful Projects and Initiatives Led by RCMB

RCMB has continued with its mission of fostering community connectivity in the Spartan campus community with the introduction of the Music Business Conference. This was the annual Music Business Conference and one of the highlights for the RCMB community. Attendees learnt first hand of the most contemporary trends in the music business from professionals in the industry.

​RCMB has also organized a series of music industry workshops with industry professionals as guest speakers. These workshops have touched and inspired a great number of students in the music business marketing. RCMB has demonstrated a great vision in inspiring the students and the community as a whole.

Collaborations with Other Organizations and Businesses

RCMB has meaningful collaborations with a variety of organizations and businesses, extending its service to the Spartan community. With these collaborations, unique opportunities for students and the community businesses were unlocked.  

RCMB also formed collaborations with community record labels, where students gain vital industry insights and these businesses identify new talent. This valuable work is enhanced with professionally-led workshops. These efforts address mission goals and also provide community integration. With community collaboration, resource and knowledge sharing, and creativity, an enriched collaborative environment is established.

Future Goals and Plans for RCMB

RCMB has an exciting future ahead of it. The organization intends to expand its outreach inside the Spartan community. The priority is to involve more students of different demographics.

RCMB also aspires to build new partnerships with the community, new grassroots relationships in which students’ projects and community needs are integrated. RCMB expects this new collaboration to empower their community of professional musicians in the industry and continue to inspire the new as well as the passionate musicians aspiring to be industry professionals.

Personal Stories of Students Involved with RCMB

Marcus is another member who organized a local charity concert with RCMB. He noted how the students and local businesses offered support.  She had new opportunities open up for her, especially after coordinating a series of educational workshops with professionals in the industry.  

Students contribute their individual talents, yet their involvement with RCMB does not only strengthens their personal character, but also the community. It is their journey that demonstrates how community involvement enriches the academic experience and provides personal fulfillment.
